  • Well, there was a lot of promise with NASA's IceSat (Ice, Cloud, and Elevation Satellite) program. Sadly this satellite was decommissioned in 2007. Some data are available at the IceSat1 website. IceSat2 is due for launching in 2016, and will be the second attempt to obtain structure data at a broad scale. Let's hope IceSat2 succeeds!
  • Greg Asner at the Carnegie Institute for Science has obtained Lidar data in a number of places. His website provide some good examples illustrating the use of Lidar data. The clips are well worth checking out.
  • NASA has recently produced a map of global forest heights. It doesn't seem that the data for this map can be downloaded at this time, but it might be worth keeping an eye on it.
  • Airbornelasarmapping links to a great number of LiDAR sensor owners, agencies, and research groups.
